Forging Blood & Organ Donation Advocacy

Digital strategy & design

"This app will be used as both a learning and marketing tool to build our user base".

An early stage blood & organ donation company, enlisted me to develop their first version of an engagement app for their volunteers and advocates. The app aimed to empower on-the-ground staff to track their individual contributions of raising awareness within the black community, share activities on social media, and get remote access to training resources.

The challenge was to design the app in a way that helped the founder demonstrate business growth metrics to investors to secure additional funding and partnerships, while also capturing contact data from new signups, or advocates. Below are the designs for the app's primary screens, user flow, and placeholder visual language.

Process

Over 6 weeks as an external design support to this team, I did a range of activities with the company stakeholders including card sorting, look and feel explorations, user flow, UX wireframing, and creation of a high fidelity clickable prototype serving as the foundation to obtain software development proposals. The design received positive feedback, bringing the company one step closer to market. However, the high development costs surpassed the initial investment funds received, necessitating a pause in development.
