Overview

Conceptual creation and UI dive

In preparation for business meetings, a Marketing & Sales consultant asked me to review Bassett's furniture store's online presence and quickly redesign it applying best practices. Looking not only for a fresher articulation of a style, but ways to improve and challenge the navigation experience and product listing in what is an incredibly competitive market.

Bassett's, one of the oldest furniture stores in the world, has an impressive heritage and reputation but had outdated Home, Category, and Product Details pages. My focus was to create a great alternative.

"It just feels a bit old and outdated".

Business Outcome

• A new prototyped experience aiding internal marketing and sales conversations.

What I did

• Secondary design research, UI design, user flows & journey mapping.

• Prototyped key interactions and experiences of vision.

• Created simple and intuitive navigation and search. Redesign of all pages Product Description Page (PDP), Product Listing Pages (PLP) etc.

Applying the principles of emotional design, we decided on an minimal high-end monoblock look and feel to engage users taking them through an engaging visual journey, with user-friendly functionality for those who may not be that savvy digitally.

I created a mood/style board capturing the style, building on heritage. Specifically, the colours, typography, iconography, and logo. A signature colour of yellow was suggested to add a fresh, positive spin in a traditional sector. The main font used was Spartan.

Process Overview

Over several weeks I did a few activities to come up with a recommendation including, analysis of current site, research & inspiration gathering, mood board, ideation sketches, wireframes visual prototype, and quick unmoderated remote user testing.
